About Us

Alpha Epsilon Phi

Alpha Epsilon Phi was founded at Barnard College in New York City on October 24, 1909 by seven Jewish women: Helen Phillips, Ida Beck, Rose Gerstein, Augustina "Tina" Hess, Lee Reiss, Rose Salmowitz, and Stella Strauss. Their goal was to create a common bond against discrimination by forming lifelong friendships and an unbreakable sisterhood, supporting academic endeavors, and encouraging community involvement.

Phi Theta Chapter

Alpha Epsilon Phi at Temple University was founded on May 12th in 1984. The founding sisters of Phi Theta are Liz Anne Berger, Myra K. Chack, Laura Lenutti, Barbara A. Rose, Elaine Feldman, Sharon N. Singer, and Sherry Pinsky. Today, our chapter is home to over 170 courageous, strong, and independent women. While many of our sisters have AEPhi to thank for many of their ideals and values, we take pride in the individual spirit of each sister.
